Common Full-Time Caregiver FAQs
What qualifications do you look for in caregivers?
From caregivers just starting out to those with years of experience, we’re eager to meet our next team members. All direct care staff need to pass background checks, have a high school diploma/GED, and obtain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card. Any prior healthcare experience is a plus, though not required. Orion Homes provides free training to develop your skills further.
What does a typical caregiver shift look like?
As the sun rises, so do the possibilities – every day is a new opportunity to shine. Daily life takes on a sense of normalcy thanks to caregivers, who work closely with residents to guide them through therapies, scheduled activities, and daily tasks with a deep sense of empathy. By inten-tionally tuning into each person’s story and enlisting their active participation in group exercises, you’ll craft an environment where trust grows naturally. Some physical assistance with hygiene, household tasks, or medication management may be needed as well.
What growth opportunities are available for full-time caregivers?
Staff development isn’t an afterthought for us – it’s a top priority, and we put our money where our mouth is by investing heavily in the growth and success of our team members. Caregivers can take free Arizona state-approved classes to become certified in specialty areas like trauma, autism support, substance rehabilitation, and more. Further down the road, opportunities abound as lead behavioral health technicians or managers call the shots for entire homes.
