Orion Homes Donates $1,000 to Phoenix Nonprofit Crowd to Community
Strengthening local communities intertwines deeply with the Orion Homes mission. This month, Orion proudly donated $1,000 to Crowd to Community, a nonprofit empowering homeless, refugee, and foster youth in Phoenix. Teens on the fringe get a fighting chance thanks to their dynamic programs painting a rosier future.
Phoenix Nonprofit Creates Opportunities for At-Risk Youth
Established in 2016, Crowd to Community champions overlooked youth through programs centered on character development, employment, and community building. Sunnyslope, a thriving Phoenix community, is where they’ve established grassroots programs to bring people together.
Crowd to Community first provides a 20-week curriculum focused on personal growth for high school teens. As guides step in, participants learn to reframe their stories, stripping away roadblocks and unearthing a resolve that sets them in motion.
At the nonprofit, they’re brewing more than just coffee. Their café, Cultivate Coffee, gives teens a chance to get hands-on job experience and a paycheck to match. For kids who’ve faced homelessness or are aging out of the foster care system, this on-the-job training provides the kind of real-world experience hard to find elsewhere.
Cultivate Coffee: More Than a Café
However, Cultivate Coffee extends its role beyond being a coffee shop. Imagine a place where connection is king, where like-minded individuals gather to share, grow, and learn from each other – this is what they’ve created. Weekly open mics, game nights, and 12-step meetings foster a sense of community.
Income from ethically sourced coffee beans roasted in-house helps fund Crowd to Community’s youth initiatives. Career success requires more than just skills – it needs financial savvy and entrepreneurial spirit. What you need to get ahead is access to guidance – and that’s exactly what these workshops provide.
Shared Values Drive Orion Homes’ Donation
Orion Homes admires Crowd to Community’s dedication to traditionally marginalized youth. Many individuals Orion Homes serves in their supervised residences have similar backgrounds and face obstacles to stability. Orion understands young people often hit roadblocks when trying to access the basics – a place to live, medical care, education, and a job.
This shared vision of uplifting vulnerable youth compelled Orion to contribute $1,000 this month. Orion stands by nonprofits like Crowd to Community because every young person deserves care, support, and networks to build brighter futures.
As gifts pour in, we’re able to cast a wider net, inclusive of those who need it most.
With Orion Homes on board, Crowd to Community gets the financial backing it needs to supercharge its mission for good. As a lean, grassroots organization founded by volunteers, they operate on tight budgets. It’s the extras that count – more resources mean more ways to enhance and expand our programs.
- Adding more students into their character development curriculum
- Employing and training additional foster/homeless teens at their café
- Hosting more community events to combat youth isolation
- Moving forward with plans for a mobile coffee cart to create more job opportunities
Orion feels honored to fuel such meaningful, community-focused work. They believe Crowd to Community plants seeds of empowerment that blossom into generational change.
