ORION DONATES TO “HOMES FOR HEROES” CHARITY EVENTComments Off on ORION DONATES TO “HOMES FOR HEROES” CHARITY EVENT
On October 4th, Homes for Heroes hosted a charity event at the Outlets at Anthem in Anthem, AZ. Orion Homes donated a wine and cheese gift basket which became the Grand Prize in the event’s raffle. The event raised thousands of dollars for Arizona’s veterans and public safety officers.
Homes for Heroes is a tremendous organization that helps military personnel, firefighters and law enforcement officers purchase homes. Since 2001, Homes for Heroes has helped these men and women save more than $8.8 million on the purchase or refinancing of their homes through rebates and down payment assistance.
We all owe a debt of gratitude to our men and women in uniform, and their families, who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedom and way of life. There are more than 50,000 homeless veterans in the United States, and many of these men and women are struggling with mental illness or chronic substance abuse. It is estimated that since 2001, more than 700,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines have suffered from these so-called invisible injuries of combat, such as Major Depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). These injuries can be just as debilitating as physical injuries, but because they can’t readily be seen, veterans often struggle to access the support and services that they need. At Orion, we are proud to do our part to help these veterans through our comprehensive residential behavioral healthcare services.
